We have one of the most competitive rates for transcription in Australia and have a simple pricing structure with no surprises. We publish our rates upfront so you can save time and know upfront what your transcription costs will be.

Interview Transcription

All inclusive $105.00 AUD per recorded audio hour/$1.75 per recorded audio minute for two to three speaker interviews.

One Person Dictation

All inclusive $96.00 AUD per recorded audio hour/$1.60 per recorded audio minute.

Focus Group Transcripts

All inclusive $126.00 per recorded audio hour/$2.10 per recorded audio minute. 

$2.10 per audio minute is also our transcription rate for challenging transcripts. Very poor quality one-on-one interviews, difficult police interviews or telephone interviews with interference may incur this rate. Court proceedings are charged at a rate of either $2.10 per audio minute to a maximum rate of $2.50 per audio minute. Poor quality audio files are usually when there are compounding factors such as a quiet speaker talking in a noisy environment.

We strive for 100% accuracy but where there is crosstalk or interference the word will be time-stamped and put in brackets as {unclear ? 00:00:00}. 

Real time involved? It takes a professional speed-typist approximately four hours of work-time to type just one hour of good quality one-to-one person audio. Focus groups, court proceedings and poor quality audio files take longer.

Turnaround will be worked out with you beforehand but is generally within two to seven days for most projects.

For large projects (over ten audio hours) where a fast turn-around time is required, with your prior consent, the assignment may be split between two experienced, Australian-based transcriptionists. For large projects we will work with you on agreed deadlines and can provide a calendar timeline. We provide genuine discounts on the above rates to research organisations and students.  

Our Terms

Rapid Type will not disclose any information about you or your project to anyone. We will maintain your confidentiality, provide professional and accurate documents, and work to agreed deadlines.

All documents that Rapid Type complete are sent to you electronically and are fully owned and editable by you. We take pride in our speed and accuracy but do ask that final proofreading be made by you, the client.

Payment is to be made within 14 days via direct credit to our bank account. Our ABN will be supplied on invoice. If you are a new client we may, at our discretion, ask for a deposit prior to commencing your project. For international clients and credit card payments we use PAYPAL merchant services.
